It came in the arms of the one that I love,
In a kiss to a child’s grazed knee.
It blew in the wind of the breeze in spring
And stole you away from me.
It came on the lips of a church in prayer,
In the hug of a grandad’s love.
It sat on the bench on which we leant
And stole you away from me.
It came in the hand that sealed the deal,
On the glass we raised in cheer.
It came alone to the heart of my home,
And stole you away from me.
It came in the tears of a baby’s cry,
In the breath of a neighbour’s chat.
It came at speed with my grave as its steed
And stole you away from me.
But the path of life must now be re-laid,
To revenge this terrible scourge.
For the last are now first, key worker and nurse,
And the world has become redefined.
You owe it to me to launch a restart,
Not slave to the whims of the few.
Equality, respect, and a social reset.
Become more than you thought you could be.
